The Art of SEO Vancouver.

People often ask why I describe SEO as an art. The reason is simply because there is no constant right or wrong, only interpretation of what is right or wrong. Major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN are constantly making reconfigurations to their search bots creating different algorithms, and therefore what might have been a proven method one day maybe obsolete the next. As a Vancouver SEO designer I rely on both the old and the future to help my clients achieve that ultimate goal of search engine vanity.

So you now have a website and your ready for your business to reach out to the world wide web, however is the world wide web reaching out to find you. Or worse yet are people looking for your service online and not finding you?
Your web designer has assured you that your website has been optimized and that he has submitted you to all the major search engines, however the only way your website comes up on the first page of any search is when you directly add your domain name to the search? How are people who don’t know the name of my business or domain name going to find me? After all most people don’t search for a business or service by the companies name. Most people search general terms that apply to your service, and it is within those search results that your business needs to be.
After all what good is your website if no one can find it? This story of obscurity after promised vanity is all to common in the world of internet marketing. I would like shine some light on things you should know and ask before paying for Vancouver SEO and web design services.
SEO in Vancouver is my full time profession and I take it very seriously when other companies pose as SEO artist and charge large sums of money for completely useless services that in turn devaluing what I do, and makes it harder each day to separate myself from the rest of web designers and Vancouver SEO companies that are selling you empty promises. I don’t claim that all other companies are doing this, but hopefully this website will give you some informative insight into what you should expect from a proper SEO campaign, and what you should try and avoid.

Your Friend the Optimistic Web Designer.

So you’ve hired a web designer and wisely you ask if he intends in optimizing your site so people will in fact find you in search results that matter to your business, and your region of business. He/She replies, “Well of course I will submit you to over 40 of the top search engines, and I’ll include some magical HTML script we call Meta tags so Google and all the others can read your site properly.” Sound familiar?
“What about my keywords and content,” you ask?
It’s usually at this point the web designer will panic and begin to ask more questions about what it is you actually do so they can kitty litter your website with keywords, and most won’t bother to do a proper keyword search to actually base your keywords on statistical facts. Rather they take it upon them self’s to interpret what millions of people are searching for which is imposable. Some might go as far as using Google keyword search tool, which is a good reference being that is free, but is in no question bias, and their numbers in my opinion are very vague. Take some time and check out the things to know list before getting coned into believing your getting a website that will be found on search engines, and not an empty shell.

Your Pals at the SEO Company.

I have a friend that owns a distribution company and took it upon him self and against my advise to hire a large Vancouver web firm that offers SEO as one of there services. His argument was that because of the prestige of there geographical location they must be doing something right? Right? Wrong? Web design companies may be very good and successful at web design, but SEO and Internet marketing are completely different areas of computer programming. Anyway he plopped down $2500 not to mention $199 per month for the “list.” Every SEO/Web design company uses this list and it is nothing more then the building blocks of a solid foundation to a smart SEO campaign. The promise you things such as: 12 key word phrases/keyword analysis/submission to 40 top search directories and major search engines (personal favorite)/HTML coding optimization including Meta tags/titles/linking/on going consultation/PPC engine set up/monthly reporting statistics/custom tracking software… BIG DEAL.
This list is what I said before, a simple foundation. I explain in more detail what each of these promises actually are and why they’re in my opinion something you should just expect on top of your actual SEO service.
Since signing up with the large Vancouver SEO/Web Design firm my friend has had to be all over there back trying to get them to do what they promised would be done months ago. The last update I heard from him was they got his website submitted to the local business directory… wow! There’s ten minutes of hard work! My point is to be weary of large companies and what there promising, why there asking for money all upfront, and what happens in a year when the contract expire? Your Vancouver SEO artist should be someone you plan on having a long lucrative endeavor with and should be available when you need him or her.
